Description

On Monday, April 8th, a rare total solar eclipse will grace the skies, visible along a narrow path across the United States. If you have the opportunity to travel, we strongly recommend planning your trip to witness this awe-inspiring phenomenon firsthand. There's truly nothing in nature that rivals the wonder of a total solar eclipse! For more details and to view the eclipse's path, visit our website here.

For those staying in Peoria on April 8th, you'll still have the chance to witness a partial solar eclipse. Locally, the Sun will be approximately 95% obscured by the Moon. To safely view this event, eclipse shades (special eye protection) are essential, available for purchase in our Museum store.

If you're not venturing to the path of totality, join us at the Museum to observe the partial eclipse! The eclipse will commence at 12:47 PM, reaching maximum obscuration locally at 2:03 PM. We'll provide a few solar telescopes and set up activities on our Sun Plaza. Additionally, community partners will be present to share insights about the Sun and Moon.

Thanks to the Art Bridges Foundation's Access for All program, the Peoria Riverfront Museum's galleries will be open.
