Harmonize Peoria is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to making music accessible to all youth. They offer a variety of engaging activities for young musicians. Some of the highlights include:
1. Music Workshops: Currently, a Free Guitar Care Workshop is being offered. This workshop will teach the basics of guitar care and help children bond with their instruments. You can find the form here: Guitar Care Workshop
2. Pay-What-You-Can-Afford Lessons: Harmonize Peoria works closely with the local music community to offer voice and instrument lessons on a variety of instruments and music styles. Often instrument loans can be provided to students in need. The lesson inquiry form can be found here: Harmonize Peoria Lessons
3. Musical Instrument Petting Zoos: These events are a great way to let your child try a new instrument and see which one sparks their interest!
4. Garage Band Open Stages: During the summer, a weekly open stage is held, geared towards those under age 21, but all ages are welcome. It is a free, family-friendly event. This unique program has a different local band hosting each week. Participants can get onstage and join the band or do a solo act! It is a great way for kids and teens to get their first chance at performing for a live audience. Even if you don’t want to get onstage, these free concerts feature some great artists and are a fun night out.
(This project is supported with Arts Dollars funds, provided by the Illinois Arts Council Agency, ArtsPartners of Central Illinois, National Endowment for the Arts, and Community Foundation of Central Illinois.)
