Things to Do New Year's Day around Peoria, IL

Even if your kids were up til the wee hours of the night to ring in the new year, we all know that doesn't necessarily mean they'll sleep in... so if you're finding yourself needing to get out of the house to keep them entertained on New Year's Day, here's some great local options for you:

Visit a Holiday Light Display

Going to see lights *after* the holidays is one of my family's traditions - it helps extend the magic of the season, and it is often less crowded and easier to find an available time for ticketed ones. Many of them are open into the first week of January!

Luthy Botanical Gardens

Come explore the beauty that is the Luthy Botanical Gardens. The gardens are open 10 am-5 pm seven days a week; gates close at 4:30 pm. Admission is free, but donations are always appreciated! This would be the perfect place to spend a relaxing New Year's Day.

Peoria Zoo

After the gardens you can pop right over to the Peoria Zoo. It is a great place to visit on New Year's Day when it will be quiet and easier for your little ones to run around to get their energy out, or stop into the animal buildings to escape the cold. Open 10:00 am - 5:00 PM.

Elevate Trampoline Park

Elevate Trampoline Park is a 35,100-square-foot indoor activity center in Peoria IL that provides exciting and safe forms of entertainment and exercise for jumpers of all ages. It's a great way for kiddos to get those winter wiggles out! Parents can jump or watch from the sidelines. Open regular hours, 10:00 - 8:00 PM on New Year's Day.

Bowling

Bowling is a great family activity! Both Mt Hawley Bowl and Potters Alley bowling alleys are open New Year's Day for a little family fun and friendly competition!
