Jump Start Gymnastics & Kids Activity Center opened its doors in September 2005 and has continued to offer the children of our community quality youth programs and activities like gymnastics, dance, tumbling, ninja classes, birthday parties and much more for children walking and older. While the COVID pandemic has slowed things down a little at Jump Start, they have devised new ways to run familiar programs and create new programs that allow for children to participate safely and minimize risk of the virus transmission. As Jump Start celebrates 15 years in business and begins its 16th season of fall classes, here is what you can expect and what is new this year.
- Class sizes and the number of classes going on in the facility at one time have been reduced to allow for social distancing
- Support staff have been scheduled to help with health checks and regularly sanitizing equipment and the facility so our instructors can focus on teaching the students
- Upgrades to the facility designed to protect our students include sanitation stations throughout the facility, touchless faucets and light switches, drinking fountain replaced with a handwashing station, floor signs to help children with social distancing.
- Class structure has been modified to minimize sharing of equipment among students. When equipment is shared, it is sanitized between students.
NEW THIS FALL!
Virtual viewing w/SPOT TV - Parents can watch classes from home, the car, or anywhere they would like with our new virtual viewing system. Access can be granted to out of town relatives, like grandparents, who can also watch their favorite child participate in their favorite weekly activities.
Create a Class – In addition to our regular fall classes, children who have been social distancing together can create their own class time. Staff are prepared to teach different ages, levels and if possible, programs at same time to a pod of students at a time that fits into your schedule and ours.
Jump Start Academy – Jump Start Academy facilitates remote and homeschool academic programs while providing age appropriate opportunities for movement, physical education and extra-curricular activities throughout the day. Jump Start Academy works with parents to facilitate the academic learning process prescribed by each child’s school by providing Education Facilitators to monitor online classes, proctor tests and assist with online or hard copy assignments during scheduled learning times. When not involved in e-learning, Academy Counselors will involve participants in planned activities that will supplement the academic learning process and/or develop strength, flexibility, coordination and problem- solving skills.
