If you are anything like me, you value friend time. I cling to bits of time where I get to explore new activities, nurture my friendships, and focus on fun. We will be posting a series of articles about local things for mom's to enjoy. Many of these activities can be done with our kids or make a great date night.
This week, a friend and I spent a Saturday morning at J. Draper Glass and tried our hands at molten art. J. Draper Glass specializes in glass art classes, workshops, and demonstrations.
Upon our arrival at J. Draper Glass we met our fun workshop leaders, Jeremie and Brandie. Not only were they knowledgeable, but they were also a ton of fun. The object of our workshop was to create a giant sun catcher.
This workshop is truly an awesome experience that you will not soon forget. Where else do you get the chance to pick up shards of glass with a molten ball of glass? In this hands-on class, I really came to appreciate this ancient art form. I found manipulating the tools and mediums very therapeutic. The rainbow colors will stimulate your senses and provide you a take-home piece of art to commemorate your day.
J. Draper Glass is housed in a conglomerate of other local galleries and has souvenirs and gifts for sale. When looking for your next unique gift, consider dropping in and purchasing a piece of art or a gift certificate for an upcoming class.
