I could not believe it when I heard the news—Dog Man: The Musical is coming to Peoria! First, the books. Then, the movie. And now, an action-packed, hilarious, heartwarming musical right here at the Prairie Home Alliance Theater at the Peoria Civic Center on May 10, 2025, at 3 PM.

When I told my kids, my 10-year-old nearly lost his mind. He’s spent the past couple of years collecting all the Dog Man books—some brand new, some thrifted, most bought with his own hard-earned allowance (with a few lucky birthday and holiday gifts thrown in). So, to say he was excited about this live-action musical adventure is a serious understatement.

What’s Dog Man: The Musical All About?

If your kids (or you—no judgment!) are huge fans of Dog Man, this show is going to be a must-see. Based on the bestselling series by Dav Pilkey, the musical follows Dog Man, our favorite half-dog, half-policeman hero, as he fights crime, chews furniture, and tries his best to be a good boy.

But trouble is brewing! Flippy the cyborg fish and his army of Beasty Buildings are on the loose. Meanwhile, Petey the world’s most evil cat has cloned himself—because, of course, he has. And to top it all off, George and Harold (yes, the same kids behind Captain Underpants) are racing against time to finish their show before lunchtime.

Will Dog Man save the day? Will Petey’s evil plans succeed? And most importantly… will your kids be laughing so hard they fall out of their seats? (Spoiler alert: Yes. Yes, they will.)
